Dead Man's Cab

Dead Man's Cab are a Midlands-based blues band fusing the traditional sounds of the blues with elements of funk and soul to produce a powerful live sound. The band formed in mid-2003 with the intention of playing music that allows them to mix their wide-ranging influences within a blues format.

The band's music recaptures the vibe of blues recordings of the 70s with driving hammond/rhodes rhythms, funky guitar and grooving basslines.

The band's live set includes blues tunes by Ray Charles, Albert King, Buddy Guy, Willie Dixon and Sonny Boy Williamson, but they also cover tunes by non-blues artists such as Spencer Davis, Otis Redding and Lynyrd Skynyrd, giving each tune their own bluesy feel. Their live shows have met with great acclaim, with both audiences and critics praising both their energy and

solid musicianship, and the dynamic range of their material.

The 4 members of Dead Man's Cab have been regulars on the local gig scene for some years - Richard Allen, lead vocalist and keyboards, was the front man for Birmingham band Dover Soul along with guitarist Jon Pegg. The rhythm section of Russ Hollinshead, bass and Pete Lakeland, drums were members of the critically acclaimed rock band One Of Those Things.
